Team Fortress 2 has just received its Love & War update on the Steam digital distribution service, giving players of the free multiplayer shooter access to lots of new guns, items, and features.

Team Fortress 2 has been around for quite some time and, while the popularity of the shooter has dwindled somewhat, it still commands a loyal fan-following.

Valve announced yesterday another major update for the game with the Expiration Day video, confirming that it's going to roll out the Love & War patch in the near future.

Today, the update is already available for download on the Steam service, allowing all players of Team Fortress 2 access to a huge suite of new features, such as taunts, weapons, items, and more.

By far the most important addition with the Love & War update for Team Fortress 2 is the overhaul of the taunt system. There are 15 new taunts and you can select and equip them using a new Taunt Loadout system with eight slots. You can also perform special partner taunts with enemies on the battlefield.

Most of the new taunts, weapons, or cosmetic items are available for purchase from the Mann Co. Store for those who don't want to wait until they get their hands on them via regular in-game drops.

In terms of guns, the Scout can use a new Scattergun model called the Back Scatter, while those who like the Demoman will be able to use an impressive Tide Turner shield. Soldiers can now equip a parachute called the BASE Jumper and a new rocket launcher called the Air Strike. Last but not least, Snipers can employ a new Classic gun.

A new Bread Box crafting recipe is available for a limited time until July 9, while special mutated bread items are available for quite a few classes. Snipers can use a new Jarate item called the Self-Aware Beauty Mark, while Spies can employ a sapper called the Snack Attack. By far the most outlandish is a pair of boxing gloves for the Heavy called the Bread Bite, which comes with great advantages but also serious downsides.

A series of different achievements have also been added to the game with the special patch, as well as plenty of fixes regarding gameplay bugs, maps like CP_Granary, and much more.

The new Team Fortress 2 update is now available for download via Steam and will be transferred automatically if you're connected to the Internet.
