PS4 system software update 1.62 is now available for download worldwide, bringing a marginal improvement for Sony's console while weighing in at 336MB.

The PlayStation 4 has been around for several months already and Sony has released quite a few new firmware updates for the console, most of them relating to system stability and small improvements to various mechanics.

Now, a brand new system software update has just been rolled out, taking the PS4 firmware to version 1.62.

According to a few details scrounged up by DualShockers, the new software just improves the quality of certain PS4 software, but it doesn't go into any detail about the improvements and what titles or apps are affected.

"Operation quality during use of some PlayStation 4 software has been improved," Sony stated.

The new PS4 firmware update 1.62 occupies 336MB and is already available for download on the PlayStation Network. It seems that the software is mandatory and will be automatically transferred and applied the next time you start the console and have the device connected to the Internet.

As per Sony tradition, don't expect any big details to appear about PS4 system software update 1.62, as the company only brags about its major firmware editions.

Update: You can download the new firmware 1.62 for PS4 right now via Softpedia.
