Sony has just rolled out a new system software update for the PlayStation Vita handheld console, taking its firmware to version 3.15 and bringing an easier mechanic for linking a PS Vita and a PS4 to enable Remote Play.

The PS Vita has seen a surge in sales after the PlayStation 4 was released last year, as more and more owners of the new console saw the benefit of using the small handheld platform to play games on the PS4 through the popular Remote Play mechanic.

Since then, Sony has kept on releasing firmware updates for both platforms and, alongside the new PS4 update 1.70, it's also rolled out a new system software for the PS Vita, in the form of 3.15.

The new firmware, according to Sony, makes linking the PS4 and PS Vita much easier.

"It’ll enable Automatic Device Registration, which will automatically detect and pair both systems when they’re both online and the same user is signed in to both devices. This makes it even quicker for you to get started on Remote Play or access other second screen features," Sony said on the PS blog.

The new firmware is now available for download and will be transferred automatically if you have your PS Vita connected to a wireless hotspot.
