The Undertaker no longer gains health, just attack

Hearthstone has just received a brand new update, in the form of patch 2.1.0.7628, which brings a pretty significant tweak to the Undertaker card, which became quite frustrating to deal with, according to developer Blizzard, in combination with other cards.

Hearthstone is a success story for Blizzard, as it began as a small internal project designed by just a few employees, and went on to capture the hearts and minds of tens of millions of fans across PC, Mac, and mobile devices from all over the world.

Of course, like with any competitive experience, balance is a crucial aspect to nail down, and Blizzard hasn't shied away from nerfing or buffing cards depending on its internal tests or feedback from players.

A new patch launches to tweak Undertaker card

A brand new update has just appeared, taking the game up to version 2.1.0.7628, which brings a few bug fixes but also a reduction to the Undertaker card. Up until now, the controversial card allowed it to gain +1 attack and +1 health when a minion with a Deathrattle was summoned. This ability quickly turned the card into a real menace if it was combined with plenty of Deathrattle cards.

The new version introduced by the update adds just a +1 attack to the card, so it will be much easier to take down before it barrels out of control.

"Undertaker was frustrating to play against. It often gained both attack and health stats significantly above those of other inexpensive minions very early in the game. With this change, we expect Undertaker will still be better than other 1-mana minions when played in a deck with a Deathrattle theme, but more likely to die from combat with other minions," Blizzard explains on the official website.

Other things are also included in the update

The patch also brings a new card back in the form of the Maraad one, which is given to players who reach Rank 20 or higher during the month of January. Card packs in the in-game shop no longer default to the classic ones as players must manually choose which packs they would like to buy before making a purchase for the first time. Afterwards, the shop defaults to the last purchased one.

Last but not least, Secrets no longer have a delay between their trigger and animations, while players should no longer encounter others with the "Unknown" name, as the issue causing this has been resolved.

The new patch is already live for Hearthstone and will be downloaded the next time you start up the Battle.net client.
