Riot Games has just rolled out a brand new update for League of Legends, in the form of patch 4.8, which brings quite a few changes to the game, including nerfs to Soraka, as she's currently a bit too powerful, as well as tweaks to other champions and to things like the turrets in Twisted Treeline.

League of Legends is the most popular Multiplayer Online Battle Arena title out there, drawing in millions of fans all the time both to the actual game and to large eSports competitions.

As such, any problem or balance issue in the game is quickly dealt with by developer Riot Games, which has just released a new update for the online title, in the form of patch 4.8.

The new build isn't that big in terms of changes, but what modifications it does have are quite significant.

First and foremost, Soraka has seen some pretty big reductions in damage and bonuses, as she was a bit too powerful when playing in solo lanes, according to Riot's explanation on the official website.

"Soraka's our highest visibility change in 4.8, who we've mentioned before as having an overbearing presence in solo lanes. You can read below for the full context, but we're always aware of champions who impose low interaction in lane without having meaningful weaknesses (and before anyone mentions Nidalee [who exemplifies this beyond the laning phase] or LeBlanc, they're both in the lab)."

More specifically, Soraka's Starcall ability does less damage, although it reduces the cooldown of astral Blessing by a larger percentage if it hits enemies. Her Infuse skill also costs 50 mana at all levels if it's cast on enemies.

A few other changes were made to some more champions, from Blitzcrank to Cho'Gath, Kha'Zix, Malzahar, Pantheon, and Udyr. Fixes for bugs relating to Nami's Aqua Prison and Sejuani's Arctic Assault are also included in the latest patch.

"With a quiet patch we also saw the chance to 'modernize' a few champions with low impact, high value changes. This isn't, however, a strategy we can consistently take because there are a lot of design challenges involved," Riot said about the new champion changes.

However, the studio also emphasized that it's not making any big changes just to say that it's done something to the game. Such a thing, according to the developer, would result in a chain reaction of buffs, nerfs, and other tweaks to champions just to bring back the balanced nature of the gameplay.
