Killzone: Shadow Fall has just received a brand new update on the PS4 platform, in the form of patch 1.26, which adds support for the upcoming Intercept DLC, but which also changes the crosshairs on certain weapons, while tweaking some balance issues.

Killzone: Shadow Fall launched alongside the PS4 last November as one of the few big blockbuster exclusive games for the new Sony console, delivering an intense single-player experience as well as a really comprehensive multiplayer mode.

Through different patches, Guerrilla Games really enhanced both the single-player campaign and the multiplayer one, by tweaking certain story sequences or by adding new, free maps to the online portion of the shooter.

Now, a fresh update has just rolled out, in the form of patch 1.26, which adds support for the upcoming Intercept DLC for Shadow Fall.

Besides that, a few other big tweaks have been made to the shooter, starting with new, more refined crosshairs for weapons like the LS36, VC15, or VC30.

"The LS36 Breacher automatic shotgun, VC15 Judaz shotgun pistol and VC30 Sickle shotgun have received a different crosshair design. The reticule now contracts when lingering on a target to indicate the effectiveness of the shotgun blast. Conversely, when the reticule spreads the blast does less damage and requires more hits to make a kill," the studio said on its blog.

Players who wield the VC30 will also notice enhanced hit responses from the weapon, as victims will be blown away in different methods to accurately portray the power of the gun.

"The hit response animations for the VC30 Sickle shotgun have been beefed up. The hit responses are visually more impressive now; when you kill someone with the Sickle, the victim flies backward (or sideways) in a much more dramatic fashion."

What's more, after plenty of feedback and quite a bit of analysis, Guerrilla has re-enabled Scouts to perform Brutal Melee takedowns when they're cloaked, a feature that was removed some time ago due to an unbalanced nature.

Besides these few major tweaks to the core Killzone: Shadow Fall experience, patch 1.26 also fixes several minor bugs relating to the game's installation process as well as to the localization of certain trophies and their descriptions.

The new Killzone: Shadow Fall patch 1.26 is now available for download via the PlayStation Network. It will be automatically transferred if your PS4 is connected to the Internet and you have Shadow Fall installed onto your hard drive.
