The long-awaited April patch for Halo: The Master Chief Collection has just been released by developer 343 Industries, bringing forth all sorts of new improvements to the first-person shooter on the Xbox One.

Halo: The Master Chief Collection was released by 343 Industries and Microsoft last November, and while the two companies, plus their partner studios, worked hard to deliver a solid game, it ended up being plagued by multiplayer glitches, particularly when it came to matchmaking with others.

Over time, 343 managed to release enough updates in order to fix those problems and currently The Master Chief Collection is one of the most popular Xbox One exclusives out there.

The April update is live with many improvements

Now, a fresh patch has just been released by 343 Industries for the game, bringing forth fixes and improvements in areas like ranking, matchmaking penalties, stability, and for specific games in the collection.

First up, the ranking system has been improved to provide better consistency and not rank down players after losses in an excessive manner, or to display a player's rank incorrectly. In the following days, 343 is going to reset the ranks for Halo 2: Anniversary, while adding ranks to additional playlists like Team Slayer or the Halo Championship Series.

New quitting and betrayal punishments are also included in the update, as quitting a ranked match gives players a loss, while all quits and betrayals will be tracked automatically. If you exhibit more such actions than what is deemed normal by 343's system, you'll receive other punishments.

A variety of game-specific improvements are brought forth by the patch, from Halo 1, to Halo 2 Classic, Halo 3, or Halo 4. Other areas, such as parties, achievements, and user interface have also seen some enhancements.

The new update is already available for download via the Xbox Live online service, according to the Halo Waypoint, and Xbox One owners will be prompted to download it the next time they start Halo: The Master Chief Collection. Check out the changelog below.
