A brand new free patch has just been rolled out for Gran Turismo 6 on the PlayStation 3 platform, in the form of update 1.07, which brings forth a suite of improvements to the title, not to mention the all-new BMW Vision Gran Turismo concept, which can be driven inside the game.

Gran Turismo 6 launched on the PS3 last December and once again impressed quite a lot of fans with a great racing simulator experience, starring a huge number of detailed cars, a lot of tracks, and plenty of improvements over Gran Turismo 5, the previous PS3 entry in the series.

After its debut, the development team at Polyphony Digital worked hard to bring forth a variety of free updates for the game, which tweaked many different aspects, but also included various car concepts from big companies like Mercedes-Benz.

Now, the studio and publisher Sony have teamed up with BMW and have brought to Gran Turismo 6 via the new update 1.07 the BMW Vision Gran Turismo.

The stunning concept, according to the post on the PS blog, resurrects the "excitement and passion of 1970′s touring cars in present day form."

Once you have installed patch 1.07 for Gran Turismo 6, you can obtain the BMW Vision Gran Turismo concept by buying it straight from the Cars section in My Home by selecting the Vision GT option.

However, you can also get it for free by completing a lap in the new Season Event, which is available only for a limited time. Unlike previous challenges, a lap time doesn't matter and you'll get the car regardless of performance.

Besides the stunning new concept car, update 1.07 also brings improvements to the actual game, specifically to its open lobby system. Here, the Endurance Race option has been added to the possible Room Mode selection screen and the Time Trial menu allows for Tyre and Fuel Depletion settings.

The Start Type option has been added to the race settings for the Qualifier, Time Trial, and Drift Trial events, allowing players to select from Final Corner Start or Pit Start options.

What's more, when you want to do a grid start with a false start check, the start indicators will be displayed as signal lights.

The Replay and Watch Race modes have also received some new features, as the button controls can now be used to switch between Full View and Live Timing, as well as turn the drive list display on or off and change the target car. If you use a USB keyboard, you can also employ it to interact with the information display and view settings.

Gran Turismo 6 update 1.07 is now available as a free download on PS3 via PSN.
