14 DAY TRIAL // A brand new Gran Turismo 6 update has just been released worldwide, in the form of patch 1.08, which brings forth not just improvements to the game but also two different free downloadable add-ons – the Ayrton Senna Tribute pack and the Mitsubishi Vision Gran Turismo concept.
Gran Turismo 6 launched last December for the PS3 and impressed quite a few racing simulator fans on the old console, delivering some great visuals, plenty of intense game modes and racing events, not to mention customizable mechanics.
Since then, Sony and developer Polyphony Digital have rolled out quite a few different patches to improve the game but also add free downloadable content, such as fresh concepts from different car manufacturers like Mercedes-Benz or BMW.
Now, with the latest update, 1.08, which is currently rolling out worldwide, Sony and Polyphony have delivered not one but two different DLC packs, in the form of a new Mitsubishi concept but also the Senna Tribute add-on.
First up, the Mitsubishi Vision Gran Turismo concept delivers a plug-in hybrid racing machine that can tear the circuits using its all-wheel drive system.
"The Mitsubishi Concept XR-PHEV Evolution Vision GT makes its debut exclusively on GT6 today. Utilizing advanced development technology from the Plug-in Hybrid EV System, the spontaneous power of the motor and powerful torque of the engine is transmitted through an 8-speed dual clutch transmission (DCT) to drive all four wheels," the studio said on PS blog.
"It’s overwhelming drive performance is controlled precisely with the S-AWC vehicle dynamics control system that distributes the drive force optimally, producing handling characteristic that move the car precisely."
The new Mitsubishi concept can be purchased from the Vision GT option in the main menu of Gran Turismo 6 or it can be unlocked by completing the dedicated but limited-time seasonal event that's also present in the game.
Besides the great-looking concept, the new patch adds another free DLC pack, in the form of the Ayrton Senna tribute, which pays homage to the famous Brazilian racing driver via unique event challenges that task players with beating Senna's times using the Lotus 97T Formula 1 card, the DAP Racing Kart and the West Surrey Racing F3 racecar.
Two trophies also await those who engage in the Senna Tribute DLC, rewarding those who complete all of the events in the add-on as well as those who earn gold on all of them.
The new patch, 1.08, is now available for download for Gran Turismo 6 on the PS3 via the PSN.
