PopCap Games has confirmed that a huge free DLC pack for Plants vs. Zombies: Garden Warfare is now available for download on Xbox One and Xbox 360, in the form of Zomboss Down, which brings a new map and characters, not to mention a huge amount of changes and bug fixes.

Plants vs. Zombies: Garden Warfare came out for the Xbox One and Xbox 360 at the end of February and, since then, quite a lot of third-person shooter fans have enjoyed the multiplayer-only experience, both the cooperative and the competitive modes.

Now, after releasing a new game mode and plenty of updates to fine-tune the gameplay, PopCap Games has confirmed that a new free DLC expansion is available for download, in the form of Zomboss Down.

The add-on brings one all-new map called Cactus Canyon, in which the zombies have crash landed in the desert and must make their way onto a local golf course and destroy a facility ran by plants under the 18th hole. What's more, eight new characters have been added, not to mention "hundreds" of new customization items to collect.

Three new consumable plans have also been included in the add-on, in the form of the Bamboo Shot, as well as the Ice and Fire Peashooters.

Players who team up with Xbox Live party members will now be able to see them on the map via different colored Gamertags, so that they can easily spot and help each other.

The level cap has been raised from 20 to 30 and there's a new set of star challenges to complete, not to mention 10 actual achievements for all players to enjoy.

At the end of round screens, players can talk to one another but they can also select a Mute All button on the Xbox One leaderboard.

Besides these all-new features and additions, PopCap is also implementing through the DLC a host of changes to the scoring system, overhauling the Gardens & Graveyards reward mechanic, while finally acknowledging the work of support classes like Engineers and giving them plenty of coins.

Many maps have also been tweaked by adding new flanking routes so that the zombies have a fair chance at occupying a garden in Gardens & Graveyards. Several sports where players got stuck and couldn't respawn in Driftwood Shores, Shakbite Shores, and Port Scallywag have also been fixed.

Plenty of balancing changes have also been included, not to mention improvements to the game's stability and optimizations to reduce lag and latency.

The new Zomboss Down DLC for Plants vs. Zombies: Garden Warfare is available for download right now for free on Xbox One and Xbox 360.
