The Dota 2 Rekindling update 6.82 is now available for download via Valve's Steam service, clocking in at around 320MB and delivering massive changes to the multiplayer online battle arena (MOBA) title, from map modifications to hero balance and much more.

Dota 2 launched officially quite some time ago and developer Valve has worked hard on quite a lot of improvements to the online title, from introducing new heroes to balancing existing ones and making sure that no character is overpowered in his, her, or its particular role.

Now, one of the biggest updates yet has just been released, in the form of patch 6.82, which is now available for the PC platform via the Steam service.

As revealed in the last few days, it includes a huge set of changes that affect the popular title in a variety of ways. One of the biggest, hence the Rekindling name, is an overhaul in terms of visuals for the Shadow Fiend hero.

The character also receives a brand new Arcana item set called Demon Eater, which offers an even more menacing design, not to mention custom effects for spells and other such things.

Lots of major mechanics are tweaked

The new update also comes with plenty of direct changes to actual gameplay, including to the layout of the now iconic Dota 2 map, as the Roshan pit has been moved around a bit, while the jungle areas have also received clearer paths.

Major heroes, such as Bloodseeker or Phantom Lancer, have received new abilities to replace existing ones, while the many other characters in the game have also seen some tweaks to certain attributes or skills.

"This update also contains the much-anticipated 6.82 balance update, which introduces an arsenal of additions and tweaks affecting every part of the game. Major systems have been overhauled, and heroes have been retooled and reworked. Bloodseeker and Phantom Lancer both now sport new abilities, you’ll find a new rune in the river, a new item in the shop – the list goes on and on," Valve explains on its website.

"And for the first time in years, the Dota 2 map itself has changed, with significant layout changes to Roshan’s lair, base fountains, and more."

The new Dota 2 patch 6.82 is now available for download via Valve's own Steam service. It clocks in at around 370MB of space, so make sure you're ready to transfer it when starting the Steam client.
