After quite a lot of testing this week, Valve has officially rolled out patch 6.84 for Dota 2, bringing forth some of the biggest changes yet for the popular multiplayer game. These range from new hero balance tweaks to a series of new items and updates for existing gear inside the title.

Dota 2 has been around for quite some time now, slowly but surely becoming the most played game on Valve's own Steam service, thanks not just to its free-to-play nature but also to the highly addictive gameplay.

The game's next major update, in the form of patch 6.84, was detailed earlier this week, and since then Valve has released smaller patches for the test build to ensure that the final launch is as smooth as possible.

Dota 2 gameplay update 6.84 is finally live

After plenty of test tweaks, patch 6.84 for Dota 2 is finally available for download via the Steam service, bringing a wide array of changes to the major multiplayer game.

The patch first tackles bonus gold and experience gained from killing creeps and heroes, this time favoring more hero kills than eliminating the enemy or the neutral creeps. As such, you can expect a bigger focus during a match on ganking and killing unaware foes than on farming.

A huge amount of Dota 2's 100+ heroes have also been modified in different ways, as some overpowered characters, like Axe, Troll Warlord, or Sniper, have been nerfed with a reduction in power, while others have gained better stats, abilities, or new effects for when they get the Aghanim's Scepter item.

Speaking of items, patch 6.84 brings a huge amount of new gear, producing all sorts of impressive effects for their wearer. Existing items, like the Mask of Madness, have seen other modifications, so it's going to take a while to learn them all.
