Cities: Skylines, the hit city management simulator that took the world by storm a few weeks ago, has just received a new patch, in the form of update 1.0.6b, which is now rolling out via Steam and should solve a variety of bugs, errors, and technical issues, while allowing some users to actual play the title.

Cities: Skylines launched earlier this month and delighted hundreds of thousands of people from all over the world across the PC, Mac, and Linux platforms, while simultaneously benefiting from a fantastic word-of-mouth marketing campaign.

The game has broken sales records for developer Colossal Order and publisher Paradox Interactive, but it's also suffered from many different problems.

The first proper update is now live for the game on Steam

Colossal Order and Paradox have been monitoring the huge amount of feedback offered from users and have just rolled out the first proper patch for Cities: Skylines via the Steam service across PC, Mac, and Linux, taking it to version 1.0.6b.

The new update brings forth all sorts of different solutions and fixes for bugs, errors, and technical issues reported by users across most platforms, according to the official forums. It also enables many customers who bought the game but couldn't run it due to various problems to actually play the game.

Specific issues relating to dependencies on the visual studio runtime on Windows, optimizations for the game's Linux build, and better support of specific popular mods are included in the new update.

What's more, a special Film Grain slider is now available in the Graphics options, while players can also adjust the volume of the chirper system, skip the intro screen with the press of a button, and no longer encounter errors when interacting with the Steam Workshop.

Many other fixes relating to parks, roads, parking spaces, and much more are also remedied by the update, so check out the full changelog below and start downloading the patch right now via Steam. If it doesn't show up right now, try to restart the Steam client or verify the integrity of the game cache.
