A brand new patch for Call of Duty: Ghosts has just been revealed by developer Infinity Ward, bringing a wide array of bug fixes and improvements, not to mention a special Chaos mode for the Extinction cooperative experience.

Call of Duty: Ghosts debuted back in November of last year and developer Infinity Ward has made sure to support it using a variety of downloadable content, from small personalization packs, to big map add-ons like Onslaught or Devastation.

Now, a fresh update has just gone live for Call of Duty: Ghosts, according to the forums, bringing forth a big amount of improvements and bug fixes for the game.

Chief among these enahncements, however, is the addition of a new Chaos mode for the Extinction cooperative experience. In this one, players must purely survive the onslaught of aliens instead of focusing on destroying hives and progressing through the different maps in the special co-op mode.

Besides this major addition, the update also brings plenty of other fixes, from a reduced headshot damage multiplier for the MTAR-X, to better killstreak rewards and much more.

The Anti-Cheat system has once again been tweaked to eliminate some new exploits, like the dock area in Whiteout, the deployable boxes on Freight, and the fence on Warhawk, and many other small fixes have been made to the detection system, so that cheaters are immediately punished for their behavior.

The Extinction mode overall has seen some improvements in terms of stability, and challenges should correctly reward players for their actions. Those who use the Tank class should be delighted to hear that armor is now completely invulnerable while their tank skill is active.

The different Extinction scenarios, like Nightfall or Mayday, have also received some big improvements. On Nightfall, the breeder should now correctly spawn when needed, while on Mayday the aliens should have an easier time getting around the map either on the ground or on walls or ceilings. The Kraken smash and cooldown have been tweaked, while enhancements to the map limits, the Tesla traps, and the drill have been added.

Players who join late, are spectating, or who are in Last Stand mode will be teleported to the Kraken fight if it's triggered without them, so they won't be locked out of the boss battle.

Besides these overall changes that are available on PC, Xbox One, and Xbox 360, Infinity Ward has also made specific improvements for the PC to solve a rare crash, to ensure that invitations are processed correctly, and that players are returned to the barracks after leaving a clan.

Xbox One owners should also see that their multiplayer invitations are processed correctly during loading screens.

The new update is already live on the aforementioned platforms and it’s expected to debut for PS3 and PS4 soon enough.
