A brand new update for Call of Duty: Ghosts has just been rolled out for the game across all of its major platforms, namely the PC, PS3, PS4, Xbox 360, and Xbox One, bringing bug fixes, balance tweaks, and a new game mode called Reinforce.

Call of Duty: Ghosts launched back in November across many different platforms and, since then, developer Infinity Ward has been busy with new map packs, fresh content, not to mention various patches in order to improve the balance and increase the fun value.

Now, after Activision revealed the next iteration in the series, Advanced Warfare, coming from Sledgehammer Games, Infinity Ward is trying to keep fans interested in Ghosts until the November release of the new title.

As such, it's just rolled out a fresh update for the game across different platforms, bringing various enhancements, balance tweaks, as well as new features and specific improvements, according to the official forums.

First up, there's a brand new game mode called Reinforce that introduces quite a few interesting mechanics to the traditional first-person shooter gameplay.

"Reinforce is a competitive round based game mode. When a player is killed that player will stay out of the game until someone on his team captures a control point. There are multiple ways to win. Capture and hold 2 control points, wipe out the enemy team, or capture all 3 flags for an instant victory."

The Gun Game mode has also been tweaked, as the final kill now requires a throwing knife and players can scavenge these items while exploring the battlefield.

The spawn system has seen quite a few enhancements, especially in modes like Free for All, Team Deathmatch, Cranked, or Blitz, so expect to spawn in better ways and places while in the game's multiplayer mode.

The balancing in terms of certain weapons has been rectified, starting with the controversial Bizon, which has a reduced headshot multiplier that no longer allows for kills when a player is shot in the body and then in the head. The maximum and minimum damage range has also been reduced and the kick has been increased.

The Vepr has a shorter aim animation, in line with other sub-machine guns, while the damage range for the CBJMS has been reduced.

Bombs like the IED or Thermobaric grenades have been modified in different ways, to ensure that jumping players are less affected and how the items damage others in hardcore modes.

The anti-cheat system has also been improved, but Infinity Ward didn't offer any other details.

You can download the new update right now via Steam, for PC, PSN, for PS3 and PS4, and Xbox Live, for Xbox 360 and Xbox One.
