14 DAY TRIAL // A new flavor of Nokia Ovi Suite was made available for download from the Nokia Beta Labs today, namely Nokia Ovi Suite 3.1.1.40 Beta, with a series of enhancements meant to bring it closer to a final release.
Of course, there still are a series of other enhancements that will have to be performed to the application before it can be considered worthy of a being a final flavor, but the development team is making advancements in this area.
“A brand new version, Nokia Ovi Suite 3.1.1.40 Beta, is now available at Nokia Beta Labs. This version is just a few tweaks away from being a final product, but that’s exactly why we’d like you to give it a go,” the team notes in a recent blog post.
“You can help us make sure that Nokia Ovi Suite meets the needs of our users, so we’re inviting you to try the application out and let us know how it could work even better.”
With the new Nokia Ovi Suite 3.1.1.40 Beta, users will enjoy easier downloading of applications and maps, with the possibility to get free apps directly from the Home view on the connected handset.
All that users will have to do is to hit the “Download and install” button, and all software will be installed on the device from Ovi Store.
Moreover, there are a series of improvements brought to the Maps view, which should offer increased simplicity and ease of use.
Users will be able to view the maps that were already installed on the mobile phone, and the application will also enable them to easily download and install the maps they want, not to mention that more than one map can be downloaded now.
The release notes for the new application version includes:
- The direct download and installation of free Ovi Store apps, games, and more from the Nokia Ovi Suite home view to your connected phone. Just sign in first with Nokia account.
- A simplified Maps view. You can instantly see which maps you have on your phone.
- Support for quicker and smaller Nokia Ovi Suite updates (patch support). For example, Nokia Ovi Suite can be updated from the Nokia Ovi Suite 3.1.1.40 release to Nokia Ovi Suite 3.1.1.50 with an update package that is considerably smaller in size. Updating naturally takes place more swiftly. Major updates to Nokia Ovi Suite, like updating Nokia Ovi Suite 3.1.1.40 to Nokia Ovi Suite 3.2.0.50 still require the download of the full update package.
- Lots of error corrections. For example, over 30 crash errors have been fixed in this release.
