Agile Web Solutions has released an update to its flagship OS X app, 1Password. The program is a password manager and form filler, assisting Mac users who regularly purchase stuff online, or have multiple accounts on various websites. The latest version of the application is recommended for all users and is free for all existing users (license holders) of 1Password.

According to the folks at Agile Web Solutions, 1Password 2.9.16 contains a new Wi-Fi Sync feature that makes it easier and even more secure for iPhone and iPod touch owners to bring their personal data on-the-go. 1Password touch securely stores the users' important information and automatically logs them into websites with a single tap of the screen. The same encryption algorithm is used to ensure the highest security possible.

By adding this new sync feature, Agile hopes to solve firewall conflicts while providing manual workarounds for several issues that may arise. 1Password 2.9.16 also has tools to handle syncing conflicts if they arise, the company claims. The full changelog contains a lengthy list of minor changes and bug fixes, through which you can skim here.

Besides adding the new Wi-Fi sync feature, 1Password 2.9.16 also allows users to unlock their Agile Keychain from the command line, according to the release notes. An improvement to 1Password's auto-update feature also prevents user data from being accidentally deleted by application uninstallation utilities, the document further reveals.

The developer also posts an important note on its website, saying that 1Password touch version 2.0 is required to use this new sync feature (a link to the iPhone / iPod touch counterpart is available below). “Version 2.0 has been submitted to the App Store and is awaiting approval from Apple,” Agile stresses. “You can check the Updates section of the App Store application to find the update.”

“1Password is a Password Manager that uniquely brings you both Security and Convenience,” Agile Web Solution states. “It is the only program that provides Anti-Phishing protection and goes beyond password management by adding Web Form Filling and Automatic Strong Password Generation. All your confidential information, including passwords, identities, and credit cards, is kept in one secure place provided by Apple's OS X Keychain,” the company tells on the Agile Web Solutions website.
