Microsoft has made available for download a new version of the development resources it offers customers in relation to its Cloud platform.

Essentially, the latest release of the Windows Azure Software Development Kit is only a refresh of a previous Build, according to the Redmond company.

In this regard, the software giant continues to offer the Windows Azure Software Development Kit (June 2010) but refreshed on September 1, 2010.

“This release of Windows Azure SDK was refreshed on September 1, 2010. An existing installation of Windows Azure SDK can be upgraded to this release,” Microsoft explained.

The Windows Azure SDK refresh contains the same APIs, tools, documentation, and samples as its predecessor, but adds a number of fixes. Obviously, developers can turn to the SDK in order to build Cloud-based project designed to run on top of Windows Azure.

Microsoft enumerated the new additions to the “the June 2010 SDK:

Support for .Net 4: Enables development of .Net 4 based services. Support for IntelliTrace: Enables use of IntelliTrace to debug Windows Azure services.”

But the company also highlighted the “fixes in the June 2010 SDK (Refresh September 1, 2010. version-1.2.10821.2004):

[Microsoft.WindowsAzure.StorageClient.dll] Application crashes with unhandled NullReferenceException that is raised on a callback thread.

[Microsoft.WindowsAzure.StorageClient.dll] MD5 Header is not passed to the Azure Blob Service in block blob uploads.”

It appears that the Redmond company has simply worked to resolve a few issues which managed to slip by in the June 2010 release of the software development kit for Windows Azure.

“The Windows Azure platform is an internet-scale cloud computing services platform hosted in Microsoft data centers,” Microsoft stated.

“The Windows Azure platform, which provides a range of functionality to build applications that span from consumer Web to enterprise scenarios, includes a cloud services operating system and a set of developer services."

“Windows Azure, Microsoft SQL Azure and Microsoft Windows Azure platform AppFabric are the key components of the Windows Azure platform. Windows Azure provides developers on-demand compute and storage capabilities to host, scale, and manage web applications on the internet through Microsoft data centers.”
