Voila is a professional / creativity tool for the Mac that allows users to capture any shape, region, menu, web page, DOM elements, and even iSight video, adding annotations like arrow, text, lines, shapes, brush, paint, callouts, stamps, and cool effects such as filters, edges, and skew. The people at Global Delight Technologies have updated the application to version 2.0.1, adding UI enhancements and bug fixes.

Voila lets you organize images in smart collections and custom collections, while all snaps are maintained in the central library. The program gives you the possibility to capture any image on your screen. You can grab a custom selection, the full-screen display, or a menu, with full-screen grabbing requiring only a click of the mouse in the application's toolbar.

After reviewing the application, Softpedia has found that capturing a program menu is slightly more difficult than taking a simple screenshot. A dedicated feature has been created to help you grab menus. After selecting the Menu option from the program's main toolbar, Voila's window disappears, giving you the chance to open the menu you wish to grab, at which point you just follow the instructions shown in the small window in the bottom-right corner of your screen (Command-Shift-Space to highlight the menu and then Enter to capture).

As previously noted, you can also capture a custom selection by simply choosing from five different grabbing shapes: Rectangle, Circle, Object (the window of an application), Polygon, and Freehand. The Freehand tool enables you to capture any irregular shape that you can draw by dragging the mouse. Adding to the list of main features is the app's ability to export the enhanced image to your iPhoto collection, provided iPhoto is installed on your computer, as well as the option to send it by email.
