Berbie has released a new version of its route-planning application for Mac OS X, TrailRunner. The new version (2.0 Build 386) delivers the usual bug fixes, as well as improved functionality. TrailRunner is free to download and install on any Mac running Mac OS X 10.4 or later.

According to the release notes for TrailRunner 2.0 Build 385, Berbie has been able to improve the GPSies importer, which now displays map pin markers at the beginning of found routes. Users must select the map pin to view a particular route. Also better is the GPSies importer’s new ability to displays routes available in the visible map area (press update to reload after changing the visible region). Minor stability fixes have also made their way into this release.

TrailRunner is a route-planning program for Mac OS X that can calculate a route for the desired distance and export directions onto the users' iPod. This way, users get detailed orientation, while keeping the workout going. In recent releases, the company has introduced the ability to display collected workout data within the program, matching the recordings with routes created by users. TrailRunner integrates with nikeplus.com, the online community for the Nike SportBand, and the Apple Nike+ iPod Sport Kit-running devices.

TrailRunner is still in the pre-release state. All current releases of TrailRunner will run for about three months. Berbie urges users to regularly update to the most current version, as well as review and accept the License Agreement that comes with the application, before using it. TrailRunner versions above 1.6 (including the one available for download today) require Mac OS X 10.5 Leopard to run. The only remaining version supported on Tiger is TrailRunner 1.6. Both supported versions are available using the download link below.
