Founded in November 2002, Realmac Software is focused on developing useful, easy-to-use apps for the Mac. RapidWeaver, the company’s flagship product, was released in June 2004 and has continued to receive positive reviews to this day. The latest version, RapidWeaver 4.4, adds a new commenting system, and tons of fixes.

RapidWeaver allows users to instantly publish photos, movies and blogs online. Those who operate the program don't need to know how XHTML or CSS work, yet code-savvy users do have the ability to place HTML, PHP or CSS codes throughout the application, for even better results. In short, everyone can use RapidWeaver to their advantage.

RapidWeaver now includes an optional anonymous System Profile when checking for updates, according to its makers, as well as a new commenting system called Disqus. Realmac has been able to fix an issue with the inability to remove the Ignore Formatting option, alongside performance improvements related to the feature. Other fixes included with RapidWeaver 4.4 are listed as follows:

- Fixed an issue with the Alpha theme to ensure navigation menus work correctly with YourHead Software’s Stacks plugin.
- Fixed an issue opening saved projects from Beta 1.
- Fixed an issue with Software Update to allow third-party plugins to update themselves.
- Fixed the display of plugin icons in the Page Quick-Add menu.
- Fixed an issue with Disqus commenting breaking certain themes.
- Fixed an issue with the Disqus options being overwritten when editing a blog post.
- Under the hood tweaks and fixes.

RapidWeaver 4.0 requires Leopard and is a free upgrade for all version 3.6 (and newer) users. Realmac advises customers to back up their existing save files before upgrading to a new version of RapidWeaver.
