The third post-Beta development snapshot of Opera 10.50 this week is now available for download. By the looks of it, Opera Software might have additional testing releases for the next iteration of its browser ready for early adopters by the end of this week. Starting with February 17, the Norway-based browser maker has made available a new build of Opera 10.50 Beta each day. The latest testing release to be made available for download today is Build 3261. Testers can grab Opera 10.50 Beta Build 3261 while keeping in mind that the bits are nothing more than a development snapshot and as such come with inherent issues.

“We promised you more things test after the beta, and here is the first part of the fixes that didn't make it into the beta. In addition to Windows, we also have new Unix builds for testing. We are trying to get something for Mac later on,” revealed a member of the Opera Desktop team. “These builds contain a number of Unix specific fixes and improvements, as well as some of the many general bugs we have been working on since before the beta. This includes some work on the e-mail client.”

Testers should be able to see an increase in the level of performance delivered by Build 3261 in comparison to older versions of 10.50. In addition, the browser maker notes that the bookmarks should now work without any problems, although users will not be able to transition existing bookmarks to the latest release if they upgrade from an earlier snapshot of 10.50. Build 3261 also brings to the table mail enhancements, including faster startup and new features for the reply button.

“If anyone is feeling adventurous and wants to test upgrading from Opera 10.10 or earlier, let us know about any problems you come across. We recommend against upgrading your stable installation of Opera, but it is of course possible to take a backup copy which can be restored after you have performed the test upgrade,” the Opera Desktop team representative added. “We have switched back to the old bookmarks format. If you have upgraded from an older 10.50 build and your bookmarks are missing, you may have to copy over your bookmarks manually.”
