Parallels Inc. has launched a new version of its powerful virtualization utility for Mac OS X, improving the general performance, stability, and compatibility of virtual machines, while adding a number of specific fixes.

Parallels Desktop 6 for Mac enables users to create virtual machines on Intel-based Macs.

Users can install Windows, Linux, or other operating systems in what is referred to as “virtual machines,” and work with them side by side with Mac OS X.

To enhance users’ experience of running more than one operating system on their Mac, Parallels Desktop includes several utilities that enable seamless integration between the Mac and the virtual machine.

Parallels Desktop also has the ability to move files from a PC to a Mac, and permits accessing virtual machine files and folders without starting the actual guest OS.

Parallels has recently released an update to its iOS-based sidekick app as well.

Targeting users of the Parallels Desktop virtualization solution for Mac OS X, the tool allows customers to remotely control Parallels virtual machines from the iPad, iPhone or iPod touch.

The new release, Parallels Mobile 2.3.454, enhances stability, connection management, and general usability, and includes new features and fixes.
