Users shouldn’t let the “mobile” in Opera Mobile 11 fool them, a flavor of the browser is also tailored to the Windows 7 client. Of course, Opera Software is already offering a desktop version of its browser, Opera 11, and is hard at work building Opera 11.10 and Opera 11.50.

However, there are situations in which Opera users are better off running Opera Mobile 11 on top of Windows 7, and not the desktop variants of the browser.

I’m talking about scenarios involving Windows 7 running on a Tablet PC / slate, and not on a desktop, laptop or netbook.

In response to emerging form factors, Opera Software has created Opera for Tablets, essentially Opera Mobile 11 designed to run on Android devices, Apple’s iPad and Windows 7 slates.

Watch the video embedded at the bottom of this article to see demos of the new Opera Mini 6 and Opera Mobile 11. Both browsers were released today, March 22nd, 2011, and are currently available for download.

Opera Mobile 11 for Tablets running Windows 7 comes with a few goodies which are bound to kick up a notch the user experience.

Customers will notice the new UI designed right off the bat, a streamlined interface optimized for touch input.

The fact that Opera Mobile 11 has been optimized for emerging form factors as slates is also evident in additional features, such as the accelerometer, Visual Tabs, Kinetic scrolling, pinch to zoom capabilities, etc.

However, under the hood, users will get the same powerful and compliant Opera engine, designed by default to play nice with modern web standards as HTML5 and CSS3.

“The Web has never been so fast on your tablet. Opera’s streamlined rendering engine and server-side compression allows the Opera browser to load webpages much more quickly than other browsers,” Opera Software promises.

“Features, such as the address bar and touchscreen control save you time and effort when performing basic tasks, such as entering addresses or scrolling rapidly through pages.”
