Opera Software has rolled out a new release candidate of its powerful web browser - 10.61 Build 8428 RC3. The new release is not to be relied on, as it targets the tester community, but does deliver several stability fixes, according to its developers.

The changelog for 10.61 Build 8428 RC3 reveals that several issues are being addressed in this build, including crashes when using vBulletin's WYSIWYG editor, high CPU usage when loading an animated .png image, disk cache not working correctly in turbo mode etc.

Opera is based on a “one web concept” which enables the company to take the desktop experience and port as much as it can from it to other platforms.

“One Web is an idea that meshes with Opera’s vision to deliver the best possible Internet experience on any device,” the Norwegian software maker says. “With it, Opera aims to deliver a single, continuous and personal Internet experience.”

Opera’s One Web concept is built on three pillars, according to the company:

Same Web, any device: You are able to seamlessly access the same familiar Web content on any device you wish, whenever you want, and wherever you are.

Open standards: The Web is built and grounded upon a single set of Web standards that enable the same Internet experience on any device.

Full access: People have universal and equal access to the best possible full Internet experience regardless of device capability or network quality.

This way, fans of the Opera web browser can enjoy a seamless Internet experience, the browser’s makers say.

Opera has said in a statement that the company has experienced an increase in its download numbers, especially since after the release of Google Chrome in late 2008.

Opera downloads have increased by as much as 20 percent since, this being a direct result of people becoming more aware that they have a choice in browsers, the Norway-based software vendor concluded.
