We're happy to deliver you Intel's 16.8.1 driver for LAN cards. This new version seems to have some minor updates which address reported issues with Intel 82579V Gigabit Network Connection.
One of the most important things we must stress is that the 16.8.1 driver version concerns strictly the 82579V Gigabit Network Connection. In case you're running the precious driver, version 16.8 and DO NOT have the 82579V Gigabit Network Connection, there is no need for you to update to the new version.
However, if you DO HAVE the Intel 82579V Gigabit Network Connection, installing the current version of the driver is advised. The 16.8.1 driver sports some specific bug fixes and installing it should provide you with a better and more stable connection.
The 16.8 drivers must be fully uninstalled before upgrading to version 16.8.1, Intel advises. This procedure must be followed for PRO/100, Intel Gigabit, and Intel 10GbE network adapters and integrated network connections.
