The Google Chrome dev channel has been updated to version 4.0.302.2 for Mac OS X, Windows, and Linux, according to the latest post by Anthony Laforge of the Google Chrome development team.

The release notes show that, on all supported platforms, Chrome now uses Google's own FTP parsing code. Users are urged to file bugs if they encounter any problems while navigating FTP sites, Google says. Not surprisingly, this is the single change in the Windows version of the browser for this build. On the Mac side, however, quite a few issues and lackluster areas were in need of attention. Among those, Google’s Laforge mentions:

- Various improvements to the bookmark manager; - Fix mid-sized download shelf close button; - Enable the task manager; - Support pinch to zoom on the Mac; - Implements context menus for Page and Browser Actions; - Eliminate Helper zombies; - Quake Live Plugin will now load; - Fix issues with browser action popups; - Support plugin cursors, and fix cursor flicker with fullscreen plugins; - Improve scroll performance on some sites, e.g. http://www.starcraft2.com/faq.xml; - Controls in QuickTime content now work; - Double-clicking a plugin will no longer select it.

For Chrome users employing Linux, the development team has included a theme for the NTP with GTK+ colors when matching GTK, as well as a fix to the way the software identifies the active window. Quite a few known issues are listed as well. None appears to be Linux-specific, while the Mac version of the browser has as many as three such issues still in need of addressing. Those include problems with the crashing cookie manager, and bookmarks manager, as well as sporadic crashes with the flash plugin.

Use the link below to get the latest version of the Google Chrome web browser. It works on Intel-machines only and requires Mac OS X 10.5 (Leopard) or later. Chrome for Mac is still beta software, therefore users are advised to exercise caution when using the browser, or at least not rely on it for important tasks.
