Dead Island gets a new patch on consoles

Techland, the developer of the recent Dead Island role playing zombie shooter, has released a fresh patch for the game's PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 versions, which is now available for download.

Dead Island has impressed quite a lot of players with its role playing mechanics that differentiate it from other zombie killing experiences like Dead Rising or Left 4 Dead.

Sadly, its release didn't go so well, as the game was plagued by bugs and glitches on consoles and even saw the release of an incomplete build on the PC via Steam in North America.

Since then, Techland postponed its plans for downloadable content and started eliminating all these problems through subsequent patches and updates made for Dead Island.

Now, a new update is available for the game, more specifically its PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 versions, that brings quite a few improvements, such as the raised level cap, now at 60, new blueprints for weapon mods, or the significant reduction in the damage inflicted by the actual zombies.

Check out the list of changes included in this new Dead Island patch below.

Gameplay improvements
Level cap raised to 60
New blueprints for weapon mods added
Infected damage reduced
Infected no longer interrupt player attacks
A series of improvements to subsequent playthroughs implemented: quest XP rewards adjusted
XP rewards for challenges adjusted in subsequent playthroughs XP is awarded for all quests completed in co-op
Purna's ammo carrying capacity increased by 50%
Character state from a save game can now be loaded when using the Start from Chapter option
New balancing option added: enemy levels can now be adjusted independently for each co-op player
Players respawn with more health
Picklock skill level required to open a lock is now clearly indicated
Improved rewards in weapon crates
All weapon crates now contain rewards
Kick ability balanced, now requires stamina
Items can now be picked up instantly; this is reflected in adjusted animations

Fixes and interface improvements
Fix: players are no longer left without a weapon after dropping the equipped item and healing with a medkit.
Fix: equipped items no longer swap mysteriously after drinking an energy drink
Tweak: healing with medkits from inventory works better, makes smarter choices of medkits
Fix: loot from dead enemies is now always identical for all co-op players
Fix: Purna no longer finishes her Fury with fists equipped
Fix: map tracking after death
Fix: zone info in the quarantine zone (City of Moresby)
Tweak: respawn point selection is now smarter

General
Improved stability and network performance in co-op
Quest and reward fixes implemented

The Dead Island patch will be automatically downloaded on the PlayStation 3 or Xbox 360 once you start up the game and are connected to the Internet.

The only problem i have with this patch/glitch fix is the part about the kick costing stamina. I think that they should have kept it that way because it's really the only weapon you can rely on when your low on stamina in the middle of a zombie mosh-pit. And let's be honest, it's hard enough to kill a group of ten or more zombies even when you can endlessly kick them down and stomp their heads, but now it costs stamina too? looks like we just lost an advantage over the un-dead. :(

I agree it should of not been done that way. It was a saving grace when you where out of stamina. Now no stamina no way to fight. Another problem I had with it is that it halved or more than halved all my inventoried weapons stats. This as well as what I have in Jin's storage. In supplemental to this the weapons being found or sold and what I have already are of lesser quality to as compared to what being offered before this new patch. Before the patch I could go into a mosh pit of zombies and come out winning if I did it right. It was a 50 - 50 chance with the weapon stats I Had before. Now with the lower weapon stats and the stamina issue I have to worry about 2 or more Zombies as I am level 52. As at level 50 before this patch I can take on a group of 6, 10 or more zombies without too much of a problem. And yes kicking was involved as that was was the key to do that because it did not affect stamina but also the weapons hit greater and had force that was signifigant to knock them down. But with the halved or more stats was not too much of a problem for level 50 zombie but I notice it became exponentially harder to even get a knock down whereas it was proportionate before. Though I do like the additioinal mod adding. That is a good plus. But another I have is the fact the level cap is 60. You still cannot fully fill out your skill trees in the terms of all three sets. As well I personally do not believe in level caps anyways. If you are are going to have them at least let it be to where you can gain all the skills offered for your character.

no clue i have the same problem with getting the patch but i want it cuz i hope it would fix my problem with loading chapter 9 and 12 from start up. u can play threw the chapters but if u shut down on those chapters the game wont reload the chapter it just frezzes. and the auto save feature keeps u from making multible saves of the same file play through so u cant say * it and start a couple chapters back with ur stuff but u cant because u cant save by choice like in gta 4 wthat has multible game saves of th same play through
