After releasing the Canary Build of its open source browser for early adopters and developers, Google is now looking to a different kind of audience altogether judging by the manner in which the latest flavor of Chrome has been packaged.

Essentially, Google is taking yet another swing at Internet Explorer by going after users that are almost guaranteed to choose IE over any other browser.

Much to the joy of IT professionals that have been looking for an easier way to deploy Google Chrome, the Mountain View-based search giant has made available for download a .MSI package for the browser.

Of course, there’s absolutely nothing stopping end users to also access and download the new release which has been labeled Google Chrome Standalone Enterprise.

Fact is that the way in which Google packaged Chrome so far made it extremely difficult for business users to embrace the browser.

In scenarios in which Chrome needed to be downloaded and deployed on multiple computers, using the releases offered by the Mountain View-based search giant ahead of Chrome Standalone Enterprise simply wasn’t feasible.

However, Google is indeed adapting to the needs of its customers, and in this regard, it answered feedback from IT professionals who were requesting a Windows Installer package of Chrome for deployment in corporate and enterprise environments.

Chrome has been steadily increasing in popularity since release, but mostly because of its appeal to end users, with IE remaining the browser of choice in enterprise environments.

However, Google Chrome Standalone Enterprise .MSI means that system admins will now be able to perform wide and remote deployments, tasks which weren’t possible with the old releases of Chrome.

Now customers can actually download and save the actual installer package during deployment.

The new Chrome Standalone Windows Installer Package (.MSI) is suited to a range of scenarios including offline installations, unattended installations, deploying the browser over a network share or from remote locations.
