14 DAY TRIAL // Version 6.0.472.33 of Google Chrome has been posted to the Beta channel for fans of the WebKit-based browser.
Builds are readily downloadable for all supported platforms (Mac, Windows, Linux) and come with updates to the browser’s UI, the Autofill functionality, and increased overall performance.
“Google Chrome 6.0.472.33 has been released to the Beta Channel for all platforms,” reads an announcement on the blog dedicated to Google Chrome Releases.
Jason Kersey, the author of the post, continues to outline that updates from the previous beta include the following:
- Updated UI - Form Autofill - Syncing of extensions and Autofill data - Increased speed and stability
According to Kersey, these particular changes, as well as other tweaks and enhancements in this Chrome Beta are detailed on the Google Chrome Blog.
By taking a trip to that location, fans learn that Google Software Engineer James Hawkins is extremely happy to have Autofill implemented in the browser. In fact, Hawkins claims, Autofill is one of his favorite features.
“In today’s new Google Chrome beta release, we’re introducing a host of new beta features which will further improve Chrome’s ease of use and speed,” Hawkins begins.
“One of my favorite features, Autofill, helps you fill in web forms automatically with information that you specify, such as your name, address, phone number, and the credit card number you use for shopping online,” Google’s software engineer explains.
“Autofill builds up and saves this information for you over time, so that you can fill in long web forms with just a few clicks without typing in the same information over again,” Hawkins continues to note.
Any personal information stored in Chrome is not only safely stored, but also kept private until a user chooses to share the information with a website, the engineer adds, weighing in on security,
Credit card information is never saved without Chrome first asking the user explicitly, Hawkins added.
