Netflix now automatically queues and then starts the next episode

A new update to the Netflix iOS app makes it easier to enjoy more movies and TV shows on the go, as well as get the best recommendations.

Netflix 4.1 adds a cool post-play feature for iPad users. When one episode ends, the Netflix app automatically queues and starts the next one.

As far as full-length movies are concerned, post-play displays the three best movie recommendations at the end. Some enhanced second screen options have been added as well.

While the update will certainly make a lot of users happy, some aren’t so pleased with the auto-play functionality, especially when it comes to TV shows.

One customer writes on iTunes, “It's great that Netflix is adding new features to its app, but please give us the option to turn some of them off, like auto play the next episode in a series.”

“I usually only want to play one episode at a time, and now I have to go manually stop it all the time now. Pretty annoying,” says this person.

Others are equally dismayed by the company’s omission to include a “disable” toggle. Like this user, who says, “By and large I really like the Netflix app and experience.”

“But that said, I hate the post-watching-a-TV-episode autoplaying of the next episode, especially since there's no way to disable it.”

“Its introduction on the Xbox 360 Netflix app only achieved the result of me not watching Netflix on the 360,” this customer adds.

Expect Netflix to get a new update relatively soon. Until then, you can either choose to download the new version – if you believe you need the new enhancements – or you can hold off the update for a later time.

Netflix requires iOS 5 and works with iPhone, iPod touch, and iPad.
