It would seem that NVIDIA's engineers and coders are pretty busy these days, since the company keeps rolling out driver updates, the latest being the NVIDIA Verde Notebook Release 260.99 WHQL Drivers, which have just become available for download.
And true to our legacy, we're now offering them to you as well, whether your notebook is running Windows XP (download here), Windows XP x64 (download here), Windows Vista/7 (download here) or Windows Vista/7 x64 (download here).
The new drivers have been designed to support the ION notebook GPUs, GeForce 8M, 9M, 100M, 200M, 300M-series, and 400M notebook GPUs, Quadro 5000M, Quadro NVS-series notebook GPUs (only those that support DirectX 10 or higher) and Quadro FX-series notebook GPUs (only those that support DirectX 10 or higher).
Somewhat similar to its counterpart targeting GeForce/ION systems, the Release 260.99 of the Verde drivers increases the overall level of performance in Civilization V (SLI), Fallout 3, Final Fantasy XIV, and Formula 1 Racing (DX11), while in the same time adding SLI profiles for Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit, Star Wars: The Force Unleashed II and Fallout: New Vegas.
Additionally, the drivers provide improved compatibility for Fallout 3: New Vegas with antialiasing enabled, as well as higher Alt-Tab compatibility for several PC games.
The driver update also installs HD Audio driver to version 1.1.9.0, includes PhysX System Software to version 9.10.0514 and supports the new GPU-accelerated features in Adobe CS5, as well as GPU-acceleration for smoother online HD videos with Adobe Flash 10.1.
Plus, the updated software supports the new version of MotionDSP's video enhancement software, vReveal, which adds support for HD output, DirectCompute with Windows 7 and GeForce 8-series and later GPUs, OpenCL 1.0 (Open Computing Language) for all GeForce 8-series and later GPUs, OpenGL 3.3 for GeForce 8-series and later GPUs, OpenGL 4.1 for GeForce 400 series GPUs and single GPU and NVIDIA SLI technology on DirectX 9, DirectX 10, DirectX 11, and OpenGL, including 3-way SLI, Quad SLI, and SLI support on SLI-certified Intel X58-based motherboards.
Last, but certainly not least, we'll have to point out that the new drivers enable GPU overclocking and temperature monitoring by installing NVIDIA System Tools software.
