NVIDIA has outed firmware version 1.2 developed for its SHIELD WiFi only, LTE US, and LTE RoW tablet models, which enhances the SHIELD Hub features and improves the Touch performance.

In addition to that, the 1.2 update now includes Network Test capabilities, allows sharing news items and swiping between articles, and improves Stability and Localization functions. Also, the new release lets users customize the “My Android Games” and “My Media Apps” sections.

When it comes to applying the present firmware, you can do this automatically by going to Settings > About SHIELD > System Updates in the tablet’s menu, or you can perform the upgrade manually in the event where the device hasn’t received the latest release.

To do so, it would be best if you precisely followed the SHIELD Tablet Flashing Instructions provided by NVIDIA, as the manual update process is quite delicate and requires additional steps such as unlocking the bootloader or putting the tablet into fastboot mode.

Generally speaking, you must download and extract the proper archive for your tablet model, install the USB driver provided within the zip file, unlock the bootloader, and flash certain files included in the image directory in a specific order.

That being said, from the links below, follow the one that best describes your NVIDIA SHIELD model, take into account all aforementioned aspects, and upgrade your tablet's software to the latest version.
