NVIDIA more or less periodically updates the drivers for its various graphics adapters, and it looks like the Quadro series of professional cards have now taken their turn, their maker having completed the newest WHQL version.

As end-users know, hardware and software are two halves of the same whole, as neither is of any use in absence of the other.

In fact, while hardware dictates the basic performance parameters, it falls to the software to actually put it to work and even optimize it.

That said, there is always room for improvement, which is why some driver series get updated regularly.

Graphics cards are one of the computer components that could always use a boost, so NVIDIA and Advanced Micro Devices release a new software suite about once a month.

In this case, it is the former's Quadro series of professional adapters that were graced with the 270.71 WHQL release.

Among other things, the driver installs CUDA 4.0, which improved performance of GPU Computing applications.

It also includes the 3D Vision Controller driver and adds features like support for HDMI 1.4 3D TVs when using 3DTV Play-ready software, like 3DVisionLive.com, Google Earth and DirectX 9 games.

The software goes further and adds support for 3D Vision Surround on 3D Vision monitors with built-in IR emitters.

Not only that, but users now have some extra controls in case they want to turn the 3D windowed mode on or off.

All these, along with workstation application compatibility fixes and some updates to the NVIDIA control panel can be gained by downloading the suite from one of the links below.
