14 DAY TRIAL // Though NVIDIA may have lagged somewhat behind Advanced Micro Devices when it came to consumer-oriented DirectX 11 graphics cards, it seems to have at least done well in the field of professional graphics. Its Quadro series of video boards has been, and is still being used by professional graphics designers, engineers and scientists for visual computing. For the most part, this is owed to the CUDA architecture, which performs parallel computing tasks and, thus, improves computing performance.
To further enhance the functionality of its boards, the Santa Clara, California-based GPU maker has released the latest WHQL-certified driver, the NVIDIA Quadro Driver Release 197.90.
In addition to certain workstation-compatibility fixes and the existing support for 2-way NVIDIA SLI technology on DirectX 9, DirectX 10 and OpenGL, the new version provides compatibility with OpenGL 1.0 on some Quadro FX-series models. What's more, support for CUDA 3.0 will ensure that GPU computing applications run even more smoothly than before.
Naturally, the video adapters will continue to support OpenGL 3.2, DDC-Ci/MCCS over DisplayPort AUX channel and 10-bits per color DisplayPort for full-screen applications. The full change log is as follows:
