Whether because it is that time of the month or not, NVIDIA has completed its latest GeForce graphics driver, version 285.79, although it is still in Beta form.
Then again, it is always just a matter of time before WHQL certification is received.
That said, this particular package brings a host of performance optimizations, bug fixes and 3D Vision profile refinements for more than a few games.
Obviously, owners of NVIDIA graphics cards will do well to read the full release notes by following the links below.
Still, for those who want to know the generalities, here are some of the things the software does.
Battlefield 3 isn't the only title that will benefit, although it did get a lot of attention.
As far as fixes go, no shadow map corruption should happen on DirectX 10 GPUs, and performance stuttering should go away as well.
In fact, overall performance will be smoother on DirectX 10 and DirectX 11 GPUs alike, while the former will stop showing black corruption lines/triangles.
SLI profiles have been updated for Aion v.30, The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim, Payday: The heist, Need For Speed: The Run, and others.
Also, 3D Vision game profiles were either added or updated for Assassin's Creed: Revelations (rated Good), Batman: Arkham City (3D Vision Ready), Deus Ex: Human Revolution (rated Excellent), The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim (also Excellent) and some others.
Follow the links to the desktop and notebook (Verde) packages and don't forget to check out NVIDIA's other big release, the
Kal-El Tegra 3 tablet platform (the so-called 'five-core' chip with four ARM cores and a 12-core GPU).
