Following the release of the company's latest set of Quadro-supporting drivers, the Santa Clara, California-based NVIDIA has published today a new pack of Windows drivers for GeForce graphics processing units. The new pack is still in its beta form, but adds a number of new features and fixes numerous bugs, enabling computer users to take advantage of the NVIDIA-based systems at their full potential. The new release is now available for download here at Softpedia, but before we head on to the download links, be sure to read about what you will find in the new drivers.

According to the release notes of NVIDIA's GeForce/ION 190.38 driver release, users of GeForce 6, 7, 8, 9, 100 and 200-series of desktop and ION GPUs will be provided with support for OpenGL 3.1, as well as NVIDIA's CUDA 2.3 platform, further improving performance in GPU Computing applications. In addition, the company also talks about a new user-controlled power management setting for GeForce 9-series and later graphics cards. Apparently, this new feature will enable users to set a performance level for each DirectX or OpenGL application.

The new GeForce BETA release also includes some new features that have been included in the control panel, where GeForce users can select and tweak their card's performance. NVIDIA also mentions numerous bug fixes that have been included in this driver release, which are further detailed in the release notes, available here.

This release also includes the PhysX System Software version 9.09.0428 and adds PhysX acceleration on a dedicated GeForce graphics card, a feature that is most likely preferred by graphics enthusiasts. For those looking to upgrade to the new release, be sure to check out the links below:
