NVIDIA adds new GeForce drivers for GTX 285 and 295 graphics cards

As it was to be expected, NVIDIA has just updated its drivers support for the highly anticipated GeForce GTX 295 and GTX 285 graphics cards. The company has just introduced the new GeForce Release 181.20 WHQL-certified drivers, which basically adds support for the new 55nm-based GTX 285 and GTX 295 graphics cards, also providing a series of new features that will boost the performance of the company's graphics cards in some of the latest gaming applications on the market.

The main feature of the new 181.20 NVIDIA GeForce drivers is the integrated support for the company's highly anticipated single GPU GTX 285 and dual GPU GTX 295. In addition, the new drivers enable support for the company's multi-graphics SLI technology on Intel's Core i7-ready X58-based motherboards. This will allow users to connect the company's latest graphics cards in an SLI configuration, delivering the highest graphics performance on the market.

Furthermore, according to the release notes, users will now be able to employ one of their GeForce graphics cards as a dedicated PhysX acceleration processor. This feature is available for all GeForce 8-series, 9-series, and 200-series GPUs, which pack a minimum of 256MB of dedicated graphics memory. Moreover, with the introduction of the new drivers set, they will be permitted to take advantage of the PhysX System Software version 8.10.13. Last but not least, NVIDIA's GeForce 181 WHQL drivers add support for the GeForce Plus Power Pack #2 and for the new NVIDIA CUDA video encoder H.264.

The new GeForce 180 Drivers offers a boost of performance for the company's graphics cards, when compared to the the GeForce 178 drivers release. According to NVIDIA, with the new releases, users should see these performance increases:

Up to 10% performance increase in 3DMark Vantage (performance preset);

Up to 13% performance increase in Assassin's Creed;

Up to 13% performance increase in BioShock;

Up to 15% performance increase in Company of Heroes: Opposing Fronts;

Up to 10% performance increase in Crysis Warhead;

Up to 25% performance increase in Devil May Cry 4;

Up to 38% performance increase in Far Cry 2;

Up to 18% performance increase in Race Driver: GRID;

Up to 80% performance increase in Lost Planet: Colonies;

Up to 18% performance increase in World of Conflict.
