Customers interested in testing their applications for compatibility with the latest technologies and platforms from Microsoft can now take advantage of version 3.5 of the Microsoft Platform Ready Test Tool.

Through this tool, testing status can be achieved in the Microsoft Platform Ready programs. It comes as a fully automated, wizard-style tool designed to implement technical requirements described in the Microsoft Platform Ready Test Requirements Criteria.

The Redmond-based software giant also explains that this tool is recommended for those who would like to evaluate third-party applications, and that it can also be used for the testing of business apps.

“Depending on the platform the tool is installed, a different set of Competency checks will be available,” the software company explains.

“This tool is required to be used to qualify for the Microsoft Platform Ready Programs and the Windows Server 2012 Application Certification. The Windows Server 2012 test in this tool can help improve compatibility and Security of Server Applications.”

Customers interested in participating in the Windows Server Application Certification program are required to perform tests via this tool, Microsoft also notes.

The utility comes with support for Windows 7 Service Pack 1, Windows 8, Windows 8 Release Preview, Windows Server 2008 R2 SP1, Windows Server 2008 R2, Windows Server 2012 RC, Windows Server 2012, and Windows Server 2012 Essentials.

Microsoft Platform Ready Test Tool comes with a new logo artwork designed for Windows 8 and Windows Server 2012. According to Microsoft, this has been included in the package for illustration purposes only.

“This new artwork may not be used publicly until after Windows 8 and Windows Server 2012 General Availability. We will provide more guidance on when and how to use the new Windows certification logos in the future,” Microsoft explains.

The latest version of the Microsoft Platform Ready Test Tool, namely 3.5, has been released on August 1st and is available on Softpedia via this link.
