Now that Windows 8.1 is available for download, Microsoft can finally put the focus onto some other products too, including the new .NET Framework.

Together with Windows 8.1, the company also released .NET Framework 4.5.1 final, which comes with several essential improvements for version 4 and 4.5.

Microsoft .NET Framework 4.5.1 Final works on Redmond’s latest operating systems, as it follows: Windows 7 Service Pack 1, Windows 8, Windows Server 2008 R2 SP1, Windows Server 2008 Service Pack 2, Windows Server 2012, and Windows Vista Service Pack 2.

It can also run side by side with .NET Framework 3.5 SP1 and earlier versions and comprises two different packages, namely the common language runtime (CLR) and the Class Library comprising reusable lines of code for developers.
