Download Microsoft My Phone for Windows Mobile

Redmond-based software giant Microsoft has recently made available for download the Microsoft My Phone syncing solution for handsets running under its Windows Mobile operating system. The new software is available for all users of a handset running under the Windows Mobile 6.0 or higher versions of the platform, the company states.

“Microsoft My Phone syncs personal information between your Windows phone and the web, enabling you to easily back up and restore your information to a password-protected web site. With My Phone, you can access and manage the content on your phone from the web, and communicate and share that content with others,” is how the solution is described on Microsoft's website.

The My Phone service was announced at the beginning of the ongoing year, when Microsoft also revealed that it planned on releasing the 6.5 iteration of its mobile platform, along with new services for users. What it offers includes the possibility to backup a series of personal information into the cloud, from where one can easily retrieve it when switching to a new handset or in case the phone has been lost or stolen.

“Microsoft My Phone provides online access to the content on your Windows mobile phone. This free service syncs the important information on your Windows phone (e.g., contacts, calendar appointments, tasks, text messages, photos, video, etc.) with a password protected Web site. Once synchronized, it’s easy to back-up and restore your phone data. My Phone provides an easy-to-use Web portal where you can access and manage content on your phone, and share that information with others,” Microsoft says.

Both the Professional and Standard flavors of Microsoft's Windows Mobile 6.0, 6.1 and 6.5 platform versions are compatible with the Microsoft My Phone. One thing that users should note here is that a data plan is required for performing syncing between the handset and the server, so as to avoid any unwanted extra costs.
