A new application is now available for download for all those who would like a simple tool to customize their Microsoft mice and keyboards, namely Microsoft Device Center.

According to Microsoft, the new software was meant to put together the functionality of IntelliPoint and IntelliType Pro software in a single application.

The new application was made available for download for all users of computers running under Windows 7 or the newer Windows 8 platform (currently only available for download as a Consumer Preview (or beta) flavor).

Moreover, Microsoft put both x86 and x64 flavors of the software up for download. Both files are up for grabs through the download link embedded below. Users should make sure they download the appropriate file for their computers.

At the moment, the Microsoft Device Center application was made available only in a beta version, though it will deliver all the features and capabilities that those who used IntelliPoint and IntelliType Pro software expect from it.

Some of the main features that the new Microsoft Device Center beta software packs inside are:

- View and change basic and application-specific settings for all connected devices in one place - Explore features with pop-up descriptive and “how-to” InfoTips. - Includes access to an online How-To/Troubleshooting library. - Includes access to an online Healthy Computing Guide for tips on how to work more comfortably on your computer.

Before launching the new software, users should make sure they have removed from their computers all other mice applications they might have installed.

“When downloading, select the "Save" option to save the installation file to a location on your hard disk, and then double-click the installation file when you are ready to start Setup," The Redmond-based software giant explains.

"Make sure to remove any mouse programs from your computer before installing this software,” the company continues.
