Download Mailplane 2.1.1 for Mac with New Flash Support

The code-savvy folks at uncomplex gmbh have released the final version of Mailplane 2.1.1 for Mac OS X . The application brings Gmail to Mac users' desktops, and is touted as the perfect tool for those using both the Mac, as well as Google's mail client.

Aside from the fact that Mailplane 2.1.1 is an official, stable release, the new version is said to bring support for Flash 10.1 beta, as well as support for Offline Gmail and attachment uploading while offline. According to the developer, “Inserting Images” doesn’t currently work with Offline Gmail.

Mailplane also now checks to see if cookies can be stored. It will also tell users about any incompatible system setting, while Auto-BCC automatically shows the BCC field. According to uncomplex gmbh, mailto: URLs and AppleScript automatically get the Auto-BCC field. Of course, other tweaks and enhancements are to be had with the new version of Mailplane, which is why the company strongly encourages customers to update.

For those who are not very familiar with Mailplane, the software allows users to attach files, send optimized photos, instantly send screenshots and pictures from iPhoto, store passwords in keychain, perform downloads, and more, all backed by the built-in, sound-notification system, or Growl. Besides these features, the app brings Google Mail's SPAM protection, endless storage and global access, and the UI friendliness of one's Mac. An iPhoto plugin allows users to send pictures from iPhoto by selecting their images and pressing the email button. Just like any mail app, Mailplane can be set to play a sound when new items arrive, and to show the number of unread messages in the application icon.

Requiring a Macintosh computer running Mac OS X 10.4.11 or later and Safari 3.2.x or Safari 4 beta, Mailplane is a Universal Binary (compatible with both PowerPC and Intel architectures) and costs 24.95 dollars for a single-user license.
