Feral Interactive Ltd. has released Mafia II Director's Cut on the Mac App Store where fans of the third-person action-adventure video game can download a copy for $39.99 (31,99€).
Mafia II is the sequel to Mafia: The City of Lost Heaven. Developed by 2K Czech, previously known as Illusion Softworks, the title is published by 2K Games and has now been ported to OS X by Feral Interactive.
The game was originally announced in August 2007 at the Leipzig Games Convention. It debuted three years later as Windows PC game, as well as a
PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 title in August 2010.
The game is set in the 1940s-1950s era of Empire Bay, a fictional city based on several iconic areas in the U.S. As you’d imagine, players are thrust into a Godfather-like setting where they must do stuff to rise through the ranks of a powerful mob family. The game received mixed reviews from gaming sites.
One of the first key features listed by Feral Interactive says it all: “From the mean streets of Little Italy and Chinatown to the dizzying heights of its glittering skyline, find out if you have what it takes to be somebody in the city of Empire Bay.”
“Mafia II: Director’s Cut is the definitive mob game, containing all the DLC and expansion packs, totaling over 12 hours of additional full-on gameplay,” reads the Mac App Store description.
Mac users looking to download Mafia II Director's Cut from the Mac App Store must be at least 17 years old to play the game.
It requires Mac OS X 10.6.8 or later, and over 10GB of free disk space.
