MX Player, one of the most popular media players available for download for Android devices, has been updated to version 1.7.14 on Friday, with a nice range of enhancements packed inside, including an Android 4.0 compatible UI mode for devices running under OS 4.1 and higher.

Furthermore, the new app release comes with the option to close the playback screen through double-tapping the back button, and packs better network subtitle file loading.

There are also a series of fixes packed inside the new app flavor, including one for broken ogg video playback (.ogg, .ogv, .ogm), and another for issues with touch actions on devices with soft keys.

Starting with this release, the Pro version can be purchased straight from the product home page regardless of whether the device is certified or not.

MX Player for Android can be downloaded via this link. Users should also update the MX Player Codecs to the new version, and can find them on Softpedia as well.
