Microsoft made it official today, saying “MSN is now available on your iPad – easily swipe to find your favorite news, sports entertainment, autos and money articles & videos in one place. Easily share what you find with your friends on Facebook,Twitter or e-mail a link to the article.”
“Of course you can view articles, photos and videos in either portrait or landscape modes with MSN for iPad. Need to dig deeper on something you just read? We’ve built Bing right into the top of the app for easy searching,” reads the iTunes App Store description.
A few feature highlights are dished out, including the ability to navigate through popular photo galleries and slideshows, and quick access to Hotmail and Windows Live Messenger, and the ability to view your content in portrait and landscape modes.
There’s also a built-in feedback tool that lets you tell the iOS developers at Microsoft what they can do to improve the MSN experience on the Apple iPad.
The MSN iOS app, currently available in Canada, Germany, France, the U.K., and now the United States of America, is compatible only with the iPad and requires iOS 4.3 or later. Both existing iPad models are supported.
The app shouldn’t run into any trouble when the iPad 3 is released, though something tells us Microsoft will have to update its graphics for a potential Retina display.
MSN, for those who are not very familiar with the service, is a collection of Internet sites and tools provided by Microsoft.
An abbreviation for the “Microsoft Network,” MSN debuted as an online service and Internet service provider on August 24, 1995, and coincided with the release of Windows 95.
Microsoft is still maintaining the MSN.com site, but has moved most of its tools on the Windows Live platform.
