Apple has updated its professional music production software Logic Pro X to version 10.0.7, adding support for 24 processing threads on 12-core Mac Pro models, fixes that improve XML import and export with Final Cut Pro X, and much more. The update is free for all existing users.

“Logic Pro X is the most advanced version of Logic ever,” Apple says. “Sophisticated new tools for professional songwriting, editing, and mixing are built around a modern interface that’s designed to get creative results quickly and also deliver more power whenever it’s needed.”

“Logic Pro X includes a massive collection of instruments, effects, and loops, providing a complete toolkit to create amazing-sounding music,” the company adds.

Logic Pro X sports drum production tools, keyboards and synths, guitar and bass gear, production effects and a vast sound library with over 1,500 instrument and effect Patches, more than 800 sampled instruments, 30 urban and electronic drum machine Patches, and 3,600 Apple Loops in genres like modern urban and electronic.

Version 10.0.7 builds on top of these features with support for 24 processing threads on 12-core Mac Pro models, an option for MIDI volume and pan data to control the instrument plug-in instead of the channel strip, fixes that improve XML import and export with Final Cut Pro X, multiple enhancements to Accessibility, and fixed snap and alignment guide issues.

Furthermore, users can now insert the current volume, pan, and send values for all selected tracks at the playhead position, enabling Low Latency Mode no longer creates sync issues for plug-ins with integrated step sequencers, Drummer, Ultrabeat, Native Instruments Machine etc., and automation can now be copied and pasted using the Marquee tool to any location.

Minimum system requirements to download Logic Pro X 10.0.7 include 4GB of RAM, a display with 1280-by-768 resolution or higher, OS X v10.8.4 (Mountain Lion) or later, 64-bit Audio Units plug-ins, 5GB of disk space (with 35GB of optional content being available via in-app download).

The software lets you expand your instrument and effects library with third-party Audio Units-compatible plug-ins, as well as import and export XML to support Final Cut Pro X workflows, eExport and share works directly to SoundCloud, and open projects from Logic 5 or later. Logic Pro X is localized in English, Chinese, French, German, Japanese, and Spanish.

Existing users will be able to update for free, while newcomers will pay $199.99 / €179.99 for the pro-level music app.
