After giving Logic Pro X a major overhaul this month, Apple today is deploying the first maintenance update for users of the professional songwriting, editing, and mixing software.

Featuring a brand new interface, new professional music production tools, drum production, keyboards and synths, effects and loops, as well as an expanded sound library, Logic Pro X is a “complete toolkit to create amazing-sounding music,” according to Apple.

Version 10.0.1 is said to improve overall stability and to address performance issues.

The update fixes a bug that could cause content downloading to stall, while 24-bit audio files are no longer converted to 16-bit when exporting projects to AAF formats.

Stability is improved when switching between audio editors while Flex Pitch is enabled, while Track Stacks that contain both software instrument and audio tracks will no longer be flattened when you load a patch.

When you select a Track Stack containing audio tracks, Tuner is now immediately available. Some graphic and selection behavior issues in the Score Editor are addressed as well.

According to Apple, “This release is recommended for all Logic Pro X customers.”

Apple unveiled Logic Pro X on July 16, calling it “the most advanced version of Logic Pro to date, featuring a new interface designed for pros, powerful new creative tools for musicians, and an expanded collection of instruments and effects.”

One of the key additions is the Drummer, an interface which provides a virtual session player that automatically plays along with your song, and includes pitch editing for recordings.

Alongside Logic Pro X, Apple rolled out an iPad app called Logic Remote, which allows users to play and control Logic Pro X from their tablet.

Philip Schiller, Apple’s senior vice president of Worldwide Marketing, said, “Logic Pro X is our most powerful version yet, with advanced tools and a modern new interface designed to streamline the process of creating professional quality music.”

“Musicians are going to love creative new features like Drummer, Flex Pitch, Track Stacks and the Arpeggiator,” Schiller added.
