Linus Torvalds announced last evening, December 3, that the eight and last Release Candidate of the upcoming Linux 3.7 kernel is now available for download and testing.

Linux kernel 3.7 RC8 fixes last-minute bugs, especially the kswapd issue. The final release of Linux kernel 3.7 should see the light of day next week if everything goes as planned.

"I really didn't want it to come to this, but I was uncomfortable doing the 3.7 release yesterday due to last-minute issues, and decided to sleep on it."

"And today, I ended up even *less* comfortable about it due to the resurrection of a kswapd issue, so I decided that I'm going to do another -rc after all," Linus Torvalds said in the official announcement.
