Linus Torvalds announced yesterday, September 23rd, that the seventh Release Candidate of the upcoming Linux 3.6 kernel is available for download and testing.

Linux kernel 3.6 RC7 comes with updated drivers, architecture improvements, especially for x86 and s390, and various other fixes for XFS, networking, and workqueue.

That said, nothing here looks really bad. You can get a fairly good feel for the flavor of fixes form the appended shortlog, and most of it really is very tiny - oneliners and ‘fewliners’.

Nothing really looks scary, although the powernow-k8/workqueue changes are pretty core (but fix a bug and actually clean stuff up). I think the biggest patch is there is an s390 page table walking fix, and even that isn't really all that big.” said Linus Torvalds in the email announcement.

Download Linux kernel 3.6 RC7 right now from Softpedia. Remember that this is a development release and it is intended for testing purposes only.
